As you may remember, I am participating in an exhibit, “The Thread of Art”, at the Stanek Gallery in Philadelphia. The opening was on March 31, and I have some photos for you:
But, you may be saying, Claudia, I don’t see you in these pictures, do I? And you would be right. I have an answer for you – you can also view a short video made by filmmaker John Thornton. All the artists in the show are interviewed; I come in at about 8 minutes in, and also I appear at the end. Now, I have not had the courage to watch the film yet, but my family says it turned out fine, for which I must thank the filmmaker, I think! Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abt29ieStUw .
Thank you! And I’ll say it again, if you are in Philadelphia during April and May, and you want something to do, I know of an art exhibit you can visit…
Reblogged this on Claudia McGill and Her Art World and commented:
You can see me in action – this post includes a link to a video about the exhibit I’m currently participating in. Take a look!

Thank you. The filmmaker was a big help with questions. And I do like talking about my work, to a certain point, and he got that, and didn’t push me beyond it!

Thank you so much! It means a lot to me to hear you say this. It’s been an experience for me to be included in something like this – I’m not used to it and in some ways the attention makes me a little nervous, but, I am glad to have my work seen in such a venue as this.

From the video, it seemed like a very supportive venue. I’m glad you choose to participate.

Thank you for all your good wishes. Everyone has been so encouraging that I am now feeling curious and not cringing in self consciousness at the idea of watching it. Soon, I think.

Thank you! I finally watched the video and think it came out well explaining the exhibition and I managed to watch myself without too much embarrassment!

Somehow I missed this post, but I just saw it on Mr. Elusive Trope’s site. You sound and look great! Congratulations!
I think my mom would describe her method of painting in a similar way. I love that you put down color right away. We were just at the Barnes, so it was also interesting to hear the discussion about Dr. Barnes at the beginning of the video.
BTW, our older daughter also went to Bryn Mawr College.
Perhaps my husband and I can visit the gallery next time we see a movie at the Ritz! I liked all of the work I saw in the video. 🙂

Thank you! Wow, we do have a lot of intersections in our lives, don’t we?
I think the exhibit turned out well and I was happy to be included. Though I have done street and park fairs for 20 years or so this is the first time I participated in a gallery in this section of the city like this. It’s been very nice and I enjoyed meeting all the other artists, too.
I didn’t know much about Barnes, other than the usual stuff, but I just finished reading a book a friend lent me, The Devil and Dr. Barnes. Though it dates from maybe the 1980’s and before the moving to the new site controversy, I found it informative, so I suggest it , if you are interested.
